The belt itself is very sturdy and distributes weight nicely.
The problem, as other reviewers have mentioned, is that the biner - not even the biner itself, but the latch thing on it - is made of poor quality silumin-like alloy, which snapped on the second use under a 70 pound load. Again, as other people have said, the biner is an easily replaceable part, but the snag is that it's smaller than most carabiners usually used in weightlifting rooms - I couldn't find one readily available, as they don't fit through the chain links on the belt.
All other metal parts seem to be of decent quality - at least the two main buckle rings are made of steel (not so sure about the chain links).
It's a pity, really, that a tiny cheap part, not even half an inch long, can ruin the experience of using an otherwise excellent product.
